Safeguarding Cultures
What is a Safeguarding Culture?
A safeguarding culture is an organisational culture in which a safeguarding mindset underpins everything the organisation SAYS, EXPECTS, DOES and DECIDES. It is made up of the shared commitment of everyone in your organisation to safeguarding and sees safeguarding as a core value in the organisation’s ways of doing things, beliefs and attitudes, relationships, behaviours, and workplace norms.

A safeguarding mindset is a lens that people apply to everything they say, see, expect, do, feel, and decide focussed on the safeguarding risks and achieving positive safeguarding outcomes in any situation.

Someone with a safeguarding mindset is consistently curious about what they see, experience and do and go beyond compliance and a tick-box approach to be sure that things are as safe as they should be.
